She Flies on Two Wings and a Good Million Prayers

Prayers, light, love and all possitive energy to the crew of the Atlantis! I especially hope that they are not the last crew of America's last manned flight. Until we get rid of the current crop of congresscritters we'll be hitching a lift from Russia and how embarassing is THAT?

I saw the first moonwalk live, saw the first shuttle launch live, missed seeing the Challenger live by about 10 minutes but didn't realize I was watching a replay when I walked in and saw it blow up on the screen, and now I've watched the last flight of the shuttle. I've been sniffly for the last few minutes.
To lighten the mood I went and watched one of my favorite videos: Witnesses Waltz

I'm reminded of last time I visited my granny, we saw the shuttle go off. I'm going next weekend & I was hoping I'd get to see it again, but no such luck. *sighs*

I never got to go down and watch a launch in person. When I could afford to take a couple of days off work and stay overnight in a motel room on the off chance that the launch would happen as planned it always seemed that something else was a factor. Once when the weather was particularly clear I did see the faint little streak in the sky and once during a Florida landing the sonic boom woke me out of a sound sleep and wondering what had blown up before I remember the shuttle was due in. I guess that semi-counts.

Awe... I wish you could have seen it! It was pretty cool! I wasn't as close as the person who shot the video, but close enough, at the air force base, so have seen it as it took off. I've also seen it piggy-backing on a plane. XD
