If I'm reading for my own personal enjoyment I am quick to hit the back button myself. With IYFG entries I end up reading at least 2 or 3 chapters even if it's horrifically bad. After all, says I, there has to be a reason it was nominated, right? Plus, if it's that bad I need ammo for a DQ recommendation.
Internal dialog is tricky; it can be done without suggesting MPD but I'm not sure if that's a distinction a lot of fanfic writers get.
