Reason to read:
If you're like me and wanted to defenestrate the book when Wendy goes home to her mundane life and then has to watch her daughter take off for adventures with Peter and it was supposed to be a happy ending then this is the fic for you. It's the way things should have happened, although it is a small bit too waffty in places.

Title: Bittersweet Hyssop

Summary: After Hugh finds out that Cadfael has a son, he wants more details. When he gets the chance he asks. Cadfael tells him a little and remembers how it was with Mariam.

Reason to read:
I always wanted to see a conversation like this between Hugh and Cadfael and I always wanted to know more about Mariam. Since Ellis Peters has died this is the closest I'm going to get. The author captures the feel of the series and the relationship very well.
If you aren't a fan you will be hopelessly lost so instead of reading this seek out a copy of the first book in the series, A Morbid Taste for Bones. It's a really fast read and if you like well researched history, a good mystery, and interesting characters then you'll be hooked. There was one season of TV adaptations that are very good as well. Summary: This started as a 100-word prezzie for another fan, but it turned into a drabble series about the adventures of Broadway and Bluestone, Private Investigators!

It's fun and it captures the characters very well. The drabbles together form a larger story that is probably made more interesting by being told in 100 word snapshots. Not for non-fans. Sorry.
