Title: How Mycroft Stopped Worrying About Sherlock (aka Who Protects the Protector?)
Author: Jupiter_ash
Rating: PG
Summary: Mycroft has worried about Sherlock all of Sherlock’s life. This, however, is all about to change.

This is an utterly amazing Mycroft POV story. I think that if you are a fan of Sherlock Holmes you will enjoy this even if you haven't seen the new series since even updated the characters are still very much themselves and this is a character piece. All you need to know is that Sherlock is set present day so they get to have cell phones instead of messenger boys to send notes to one another.

Title: The Credulity of Youth
Author: Trillsabells
Rating: PG13
Summary: Sherlock and John find themselves the subjects of a dangerous and deadly experiment. Kid!fic

This was recommended by Issen4 who has great taste in fics so I gave it a chance even though I had no idea how the author was going to pull it off. Having a character get turned into a kid in a science fiction or fantasy story is a lot easier to arrange than in a story set in a fairly realistic modern day world. I think that end the end the premise does go beyond what would be possible in canon but the excellent characterizations and the well paced plot more than make up for that.

Title: The Affair of the Asphyxiated Acafan
Author: AJHall
Rating: PG
Summary: Sarah flies home from a conference in the US and brings an unexpected gift home for her boyfriend - or, more precisely, his flatmate. Game on!

The gift is a murder and the solving of it is the weakest part of this fic. I feel that the rule of giving the reader all the pieces of the mystery before the reveal is violated. That would normally have me warning people away from this instead of recommending it but the amazing characterization and dialog, especially the dialog, are not to be missed. There is a point at which Sarah explains to someone how incredibly stupid it is to fuck with Sherlock or any of the other people involved by that point that deserves an award of some sort for pure verbal genius. Plus, the author makes full use of the fact that in the new series John and Sherlock know their way around the internet.
